Senior Accountant

About the role:

Eagers Automotive are seeking a motivated and detail‑focused Accountant to join our accounting team in Wangara. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with 2–5 years’ experience who is looking to grow their capability, take ownership of core accounting tasks, and contribute to a collaborative, supportive team environment.

You will support the financial operations of a portfolio of dealerships, working closely with Financial Controllers and the wider accounts team. The role also includes providing day‑to‑day support to a small group of accounts staff, helping coordinate work and offering guidance when needed. Prior people‑management experience is not required.

This position offers exposure to a broad range of accounting activities and a strong opportunity to build your technical skills while working within established processes and frameworks.

Duties will include:

• Prepare monthly Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheet reconciliations with a strong focus on accuracy and consistency
• Support the consistent application of established accounting processes across the group
• Review and respond to financial queries from dealership leaders and internal stakeholders
• Assist the Financial Controllers with day‑to‑day finance activities, with a particular emphasis on timely and accurate account reconciliations
• Maintain the operations fixed asset register, including asset additions, disposals and monthly depreciation
• Provide support to the wider accounts team when required
• Maintain accurate records to meet BAS, FBT and other taxation obligations
• Assist with Year End and Half‑Year End file preparation

About you:

You’re organised, analytical and enjoy being part of a professional team environment. You take ownership of your work, communicate clearly, and bring a positive, proactive mindset. You also feel comfortable supporting colleagues and offering guidance when required, contributing to a collaborative and productive accounts team.

You would ideally possess:

• A tertiary qualification in Accounting
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• 2–5 years of accounting experience (progress toward CA/CPA helpful but not required)
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Strong time‑management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
• A proactive attitude and ability to manage tasks independently
• Effective communication skills and a team‑focused mindset
