About the Role

BYD Cannington is looking for a professional, motivated and customer-focused Trade In Specialist to join our growing team. This full-time role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, assessing vehicles, negotiating outcomes, and helping guests seamlessly transition into their next vehicle.

As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for managing trade-in opportunities, conducting vehicle appraisals, purchasing vehicles, and supporting the dealership's used vehicle inventory requirements. Your ability to accurately assess vehicle value, build trust with guests, and identify sales opportunities will directly contribute to the dealership's success.

This role suits someone who is commercially minded, confident communicating with a wide range of people, and passionate about delivering outstanding customer experiences.

What you will be doing:

• Conduct detailed vehicle appraisals and assess trade-in opportunities
• Determine market-appropriate vehicle values based on condition, history and current market trends
• Build strong relationships with guests throughout the trade-in and valuation process
• Manage incoming appraisal leads from online, phone and walk-in enquiries
• Negotiate trade-in and vehicle purchase offers professionally and effectively
• Work closely with the sales team to maximise vehicle sales and trade conversion opportunities
• Accurately complete valuation documentation and vehicle acquisition records
• Monitor used vehicle market trends, competitor activity and pricing movements
• Ensure all acquisitions meet company processes, compliance requirements and profitability targets

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience in vehicle buying, trade-ins, used vehicle sales, automotive sales or a similar role
• Proven ability to negotiate and build rapport with customers
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Confidence using dealership management systems and online vehicle valuation platforms
• Professional, driven and customer-focused approach
• Current manual driver's licence and Australian working rights
